About Us

My husband Jerry has lived in Oregon all his life.  We are a family of four - plus three goats and a dog.  I am a transplant from Connecticut, but have lived here since 1980, so I consider myself a native.  When people ask, I am an Oregonian.  We used to show and breed Bullmastiffs, in both the United States and in Canada, had top quality dogs and great success in the ring.  Then we had two boys.  I didn't have time to get up every two hours with puppies if I needed to when I was getting up every two hours to feed my human babies, so we just had a few dogs for awhile and retired from the show ring for awhile.  Our last female, Ruthie, passed away at the ripe age of 11 in the Spring of 2005.  Our male, Sherman, is our current protector and provides us with love, comfort, and amusement.

Here is Sherman, who loves lying on a corner of this beanbag on the back porch, right next to the porch swing where I sit with my tea while we watch the goats browse.

This is an Anna's hummingbird and a frequent visitor to our feeders.  Most people don't know that they don't migrate South for the Winter.  We make sure we have food out year-round and keep it defrosted during the Winter for them.

This is a commercial picture of the barn I plan to build when we move to our next property, hopefully within the next two years.  The plan is to have hay and straw storage at the end and goat stalls on the side facing us.  On the other side of the barn will be large runs for chickens, California Quail, and the occasional brood of Ringneck Pheasants.  We go through a lot of eggs and I can't wait to have our own homegrown crop.

California Quail (also live in Oregon)             and Ringneck Pheasants, too.

This is a peaceful place where I would love to sit.  Wish my back yard looked like this.

This is a peaceful place where I have sat - a cemetery in Braintree, Vermont,
where many ancestors are buried.
